When studying and using the Book of Changes, there are some principles to follow. Among them, the “three non-occupation” principle refers to: not honest and not occupy, not suspicious and not unjust. This is because only in good faith, without doubt, in line with the moral situation, can accurate prediction results be obtained.

In addition, there is an important principle is “no intention to occupy.” In other words, if we do not have a clear purpose or intention, we should not do divination. Because the results of divination can only reflect our innermost thoughts and desires.

1, not honest do not account for, refers to divination prediction is to seek advice from the gods, first of all to be sincere, otherwise do not account for. Sincere heart, hexagrams will be Ling!

This means that divination should only be done if you are sincere about what you are asking and if the question is appropriate and legitimate.

The old saying goes, “The heart is sincere, the divination will be spirit,” which further emphasizes the importance of sincerity for divination results. It expresses the belief that when a person is sincere deep down, the divinatory signs more accurately reflect what may happen in the future.

 

2, no doubt, no real doubt, no divination. If there is only one choice, there is no doubt, or it can be inferred according to common sense, there is no need to ask.

In the Book of Changes, divination is often used to help people seek guidance and advice when faced with decisions or uncertain situations. However, if there is only one obvious answer or result to a problem, then there is no doubt that the problem needs to be solved by divination. Therefore, the ancients considered divination unnecessary under such circumstances.

3, injustice does not occupy, the “righteousness” here refers to “appropriate, appropriate, legitimate”, that is to say, improper things do not account for.

The principle of “injustice does not occupy” emphasizes that the standards of morality and justice must be followed in the practice of divination, and that no question of impropriety or immorality should be involved.
